Old Baby Mackerel

Charm of Finches

We are delighted to welcome back Old Baby Mackerel who play high-energy, foot-stomping bluegrass featuring some of the UK’s best bluegrass musicians. Be prepared to be transported back in time to the early 20th century and across the Atlantic to North America where songs dramatized the small town fascination with locomotion, religion and the veneration of whisky and bootleg liquor. Gathered around a single condenser microphone in the true bluegrass style, the sounds of banjo, guitar, mandolin and double bass blend lightning-fast rhythm, virtuosic solos and evocative harmonies to get knees bouncing and elbows swinging.

Richard Cox-Smith

Starting off the evening is local musician Richard Cox-Smith making his 5th appearance at an ACE Space gig.  The 2017 gig where he opened for the Rainbow Girls and later joined them on stage is one that is still fondly recalled by those fortunate to be there.  Richard draws the audience in with his extensive catalogue of blues, ragtime and Americana tunes and songs.
