Welsh recording artist, Jodie Marie will be playing a very special, intimate show with backing vocalists from Rona MacGregor (Rona Mac), Daisy Borthwick (Daisy B) & Eline Brun (I See Rivers) providing three part harmonies. Jodie will be performing a selection of songs taken from all three of her albums (Mountain Echo, Trouble in Mind, The Answer) and latest EP (Polar Night).
It is unusual (unique even) for Ace Space to arrange a gig at only one month’s notice, but this was an opportunity not to be missed. Jodie Marie was due traveling between gigs in London and Pembrokeshire so a small detour to Newbury provides a handy break in the journey.
Jodie Marie’s albums have received much critical acclaim, including ‘velvety and bittersweet’ (The Guardian) and as ‘having a light-blues and jazz-folk-edge recalling late-1960s singer-songwriters such as Carole King’ (The Independent). She has featured on numerous occasions on BBC Radio 2, performed live on the Loose Ends show (BBC Radio 4), sang a duet live on Radio 2 with the band Train, and has supported the likes of Will Young, Nerina Pallot, Ben Howard, Callum Scott, Jamie Lawson, Jonathan Jeremiah, Jim Adkins (Jimmy Eat World), and Ed Harcourt.
As this is a late addition to the ACE Space schedule, this will either be an acoustic performance in the bar or amplified in the main hall depending upon number of tickets purchased. Either way it will be an intimate gig.
